Lava has expanded its entry-level smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the Lava Smart 4 Plus, priced at ₹9,999. The new 4G handset targets buyers looking for a large display, long battery life, and the latest Android 15 Go Edition without crossing the ₹10,000 mark. It also brings a 90Hz refresh rate, a feature that remains uncommon in this price segment.
The smartphone features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1,600 × 720 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and everyday navigation. It is available in Nilgiri Blue and Himalayan Silver, while an IP64 rating adds protection against dust and light water splashes.
Powering the device is the UNISOC 9863A octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and support for an additional 4GB of virtual RAM. It offers 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card. The phone ships with Android 15 Go Edition, designed to deliver a lighter software experience on budget hardware.
For photography, the Lava Smart 4 Plus includes a 13MP primary rear camera accompanied by an AI sensor, while a 5MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Camera features include HDR, Portrait, and Night modes for improved shooting flexibility in different lighting conditions.
The device houses a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging through a USB Type-C port. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a bottom-firing speaker.
The Smart 4 Plus is aimed at first-time smartphone users, students, and buyers upgrading from older 4G devices who prioritize battery life and a large display over premium performance. While it delivers practical everyday features, it does not offer 5G connectivity or fast charging, which are increasingly available on some competing models in the same price range.
Lava is selling the Smart 4 Plus through offline retail stores across India with a one-year warranty and free home service, reinforcing its focus on the affordable smartphone segment.
