Casio has expanded its G-Steel lineup with the introduction of the GST-B1000BD series, bringing a slimmer case design and an all-black metal finish to the G-Shock family. The new collection includes the GST-B1000BD-1A and GST-B1000BD-2A, both scheduled to launch in Japan in June 2026 with a price tag of ¥75,900.
The release is notable because it reduces the traditionally bulky G-Steel profile while retaining core G-Shock features such as Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and 200-meter water resistance. At 11.6mm thick, the new models are among the slimmer options in the G-Steel range.
Casio GST-B1000BD Design and Build
The GST-B1000BD series measures 46.9 x 44.2 x 11.6mm and uses a bio-based carbon-reinforced resin core protected by a stainless-steel bezel. Casio achieved the thinner profile through a smaller internal module and an updated glass bonding process.
Both watches feature black ion-plated metal components, including the bezel, bracelet, buttons, screw-lock crown, clasp, and exterior screws. The GST-B1000BD-1A adopts a full black design, while the GST-B1000BD-2A pairs the dark exterior with a blue dial for added contrast.
Features and Connectivity
The watches are powered by Casio's Tough Solar technology. Under standard usage conditions, the battery can operate for approximately five months on a full charge. With power-saving mode enabled and stored in darkness, runtime can extend to around 18 months.
Bluetooth support allows the watches to connect to the Casio Watches smartphone app. Through the app, users can automatically synchronise time settings, adjust watch functions, log location information, and use a phone finder feature.
Display and Everyday Functions
The GST-B1000BD series retains traditional analog styling with three central hands and dual sub-dials showing the day and 24-hour time. Additional functions include a 30-minute stopwatch, countdown timer, daily alarm, and LED illumination for low-light visibility.
The watches also feature mineral glass protection and maintain the 200-meter water resistance rating commonly associated with G-Shock models.
Market Position and Limitations
The GST-B1000BD lineup targets users seeking a metal-bodied G-Shock watch with a slimmer profile and connected features. It competes with premium solar-powered watches from brands offering Bluetooth-enabled timepieces in the mid-to-premium segment.
One limitation is the absence of advanced smartwatch capabilities such as onboard GPS, health tracking, or a full digital display. The watches remain focused on traditional timekeeping enhanced by smartphone connectivity.
Conclusion
The Casio GST-B1000BD-1A and GST-B1000BD-2A bring a more compact design to the G-Steel lineup without sacrificing signature G-Shock durability. With solar charging, Bluetooth connectivity, premium metal construction, and an all-black aesthetic, the new models expand Casio's range of connected analog watches.
